Guided by the 90s was a weekly 8 part series written for the Vancouver online magazine, Vancouver is Awesome. The series was an editorial experiment of sorts in that it investigated urban development by using an outdated travel guide to tour the city of Vancouver in the present.

Each week, a different neighbourhood was featured, and paired with a narrative that suited each area of the city. Over the space of the eight weeks the series appeared in Vancouver is Awesome, some of the themes explored included: the seemingly static evolution of nature, contrasted by the constant change of the city; the trajectory of media technology from new and futuristic to obsolete; urban gentrification amidst rapid condominium development, and the perception of time, along with it’s effect on memory and nostalgia.
